| The phenomena of gnosticism has entered into Christian thought in 20th and 21st century. This has come about primarily through a deadly synthesis of Jungianism (the psychology inspired by C.G. Jung) with Christianity, and has been steadily moving forward, beginning with its entrance into Roman Catholic and Episcopal renewal in the mid 20th century and onward from there into the heart of Evangelicalism. The dangerous repercussions of this cannot be overstated. | |
| Virtues | |
| In the modern shift from objective, transcendent reality to subjective, relativistic feelings about reality, virtues have been replaced with values. Virtues concern themselves the disposition and condition of one's heart, the core of one's being; whereas values describe desired behaviors or expected outcomes. Contrast the virtues of faith, hope, love, courage, tempurance, justice and prudence with the modern values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Someone who is virtuous will exhibit the modern values. However, someone who exhibits the modern values may not be virtuous. | |
